  • The following franchises are in effect in the Parish:

    Pointe Coupee Citizens for a Better Community, Inc., granted on February 17, 1970, for a term of twenty-five (25) years. Right to cross all parish roads.

    Sun Oil Company, granted February 9, 1971, right to cross North-South parish road in Section 18, Township 6 South, Range 10 East.

    False River Water Works Corporation, granted March 9, 1971, for a twenty-five year term. Right to cross Highways 1, 413, 416, 978, 983 and those between Mix and Rougon.

    Torbert-Frisco Water Works Corporation, granted May 11, 1971, and November 9, 1971. Right to cross Highways 78, 978, 979.

    Pointe Coupee Water Corporation, granted July 13, 1971, for a twenty-five (25) year term. Right to cross Rooney Road, West Delta Lane and streets in Pecan Acres Subdivision.

    Chenal Water Works, granted September 12, 1972, for a twenty-five (25) year term. Right to cross parts of Highways 415 and 416 in Ward 8.

    Innis Water Corporation, Inc., a nonexclusive franchise, granted for a period from November 14, 1972 through November 14, 2067. Right to cross Highways 1, 417, 418, 970, 971.

    False River Water Works Corporation, granted February 28, 1974, for a twenty-five (25) year term. Right to cross various parish roads in Ward 9.

    Valverda Water Works Corporation, granted June 10, 1975, for a twenty-five (25) year term. Right to cross various parish roads in Ward 9.

    Central Louisiana Electric Company, Inc., granted February 8, 1977, for a twenty-five (25) year term. Right to place electric distribution system along parish roads.

    Waterworks District No. 2, granted September 22, 1987, for an initial term of fifty (50) years. Right to operate a complete waterworks system over public roads, streets and alleys not within the limits of any municipality.

    City of New Roads, Louisiana, granted August 27, 1996. Right to extend water utility lines and service to serve the Waterloo area.

    False River Water Works Corporation, a nonprofit corporation, organized and existing under the laws of the State of Louisiana, domiciled in the Parish of Pointe Coupee, granted on April 26, 2005, a nonexclusive franchise, right and privilege in, along and under the roads and highways of the Parish of Pointe Coupee, Louisiana, not within the limits of any incorporated city, town or village, for the laying construction, maintenance, and operation of lines of pipes or mains for supplying and furnishing water in, along and under said roads and highways of the Parish of Pointe Coupee, Louisiana.

    All lines of pipes or mains for supplying and furnishing water, as hereinabove described, were previously installed, or laid under the supervision of the Police Jury of Pointe Coupee Parish, and a description of the kind, quality, size, quantity, etc. of lines of pipes or mains installed or laid, were furnished to the Police Jury of the Parish of Pointe Coupee and the formal approval of this police jury was previously obtained.

    The franchise, right and privilege herein granted shall pertain to and affect only the following roads and highways of the Parish of Pointe Coupee:

    (1)

    At the western corporate limits of the City of New Roads, along La. Highway No. 1 and La. Highway No. 416 to Rougon School.

    (2)

    On Oakland Road (or La. Highway No. 413) from La. Highway No. 416 to parish line between Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge Parishes.

    (3)

    On Parlange Lane from La. Highway No. 1 for a distance of three thousand (3,000) feet.

    (4)

    On La. Highway No. 978 from La. Highway No. 1 for a distance of approximately one thousand (1,000) feet.

    (5)

    On La. Highway No. 983 from La. Highway No. 416 for a distance of approximately two thousand (2,000) feet.

    (6)

    On La. Highway No. 1 at Lakeland going in the direction of Airline Highway (U.S. No. 190) for a distance of approximately four thousand (4,000) feet.

    (7)

    On the road or highway located between La. Highway No. 1 and La. Highway No. 413, from La. Highway No. 416 for a distance of approximately seven thousand (7,000) feet.

    (8)

    Along any parish roads or lanes situated between Mix, Louisiana, and Rougon, Louisiana, from La. Highway Nos. 1 and 416, which roads intersect with either La. Highway No. 1 or La. Highway No. 416 and are as indicated on a map of survey made by Forte and Tablada, Inc., Engineers, showing the location of the pipelines or mains of the False River Water Works Corporation, a copy of which map was annexed to and made a part of the initial ordinance of this body adopted on March 9, 1971.

    The grantee, its successors and assigns, shall have the right, if it becomes necessary or desirable to change, upgrade, remove, relocate, replace and repair its lines of water pipes or mains in, along and/or under the said roads and highways of Pointe Coupee Parish; that should it become necessary to remove [or] to change the location of said water pipes or mains, for the purpose of road or highway improvements, when requested so to do by this police jury, and grantee will at its own cost and expense so remove or change the location of said water pipes or mains, without expense or cost to this police jury or to the Parish of Pointe Coupee.

    Grantee, its successors and assigns, shall indemnify, protect, hold and save harmless the Parish of Pointe Coupee from any and all loss, damage, or expense which it may suffer or sustain on account of this grant and franchise and operations thereunder, arising from any cause whatsoever, and in favor of any person, persons, partnerships, firms or corporations.

    This franchise is nonexclusive and is granted for the period of forty (40) years from date hereof.
