§ 11-34. Qualifications for permit.

  • In determining whether a permit shall be issued, the police jury shall give weight and due regard, among other things, to:

    (a)

    The probable permanence and quality of the service offered by the applicant including, but not limited to, proof of financial stability and responsibility and the establishment and maintenance of a bona fide office within the parish from which the service is offered.

    (b)

    The experience that the applicant has had in rendering service in other locations and the past experience of the applicant in payment of any judgements arising out of the operation of their service.

    (c)

    The financial stability of the applicant and the ability to respond to damages.

    (d)

    Whether insurance as required by this chapter has been secured.

    (e)

    The character and condition of the vehicles to be used.

    (f)

    Whether all requirements of this chapter and all other applicable laws and ordinances have been compiled with.

    (g)

    Applying ambulance operator must submit evidence of an ongoing random drug screening program.
