§ 5-20. General powers.

  • Powers of the commission are:

    (1)

    To exercise all or any portion of the administrative powers, functions and authority, relative to False River Air Park (hereinafter sometimes referred to as the air park), vested in the governing body of the subdivision;

    (2)

    To execute such contracts and other instruments and take such other actions as may be necessary or convenient to the orderly operation of, improvement to and maintenance of False River Air Park.

    Notwithstanding any other authority granted to the commission, the authority to contract for or to purchase immovable property shall not be exercised without the prior consent of the governing body. The authority to contract for or to expend funds for the operation or maintenance of the air park or for the purchase of supplies or service for the air park, without prior approval, shall be limited to expenditures made in conformity with and within the limitations of the commission's operating budget. The limitations imposed by this paragraph shall not apply to the authority of the commission granted under section 5-24, pursuant to federal and state supported projects.

    (3)

    To plan, acquire, construct, improve, maintain, equip, operate, regulate and protect the air park including the acquisition, maintenance and operation of buildings and other facilities for the servicing of aircraft or for the comfort and accommodation of air travelers, and the purchase of and sale of supplies, goods, and commodities as incident to the operation of its airport properties. For such purposes the commission may, by purchase, gift, devise or lease, acquire property, real or personal, or any interest therein, including easements in air park hazards or land outside the boundaries at the air park, as are necessary to permit the removal, elimination, obstruction marking, or obstructions.
